Ready. Set. Stop!

Jan 16, 2022

Im always fascinated to observe human behavior. Especially that of human beings, us, doing things that don’t make sense. Like, saying they want something, putting a value to it (their Why), then doing things that are extremely counter productive in getting it.

Few examples: I want to get healthy this year!! Then watching them justify a day later that the timing is wrong and they go on an eating binge. Or, setting goals to level up in finances and freedom this year, then watching them spend boat loads of time getting caught up in political agendas and non productive conversations and activities that have little to nothing to do with their goals.

This brought me to recognize that human beings have great intentions to excel in life yet have an internal default mode that kicks in when they are faced with doing the goal supportive work. If you’re observing this from the outside, it’s confusing. They say they want this, and all they need to do to have it is this. But then as if by magic they do that? Then watch them back that up with confirmation and justification that, that is something worthy of their time.

So why do we do this and how do we shift?

We’ll step one is to embrace the fact that you are in a lot more control of this sequence than you think. Anytime you come up with an idea of something you want to do instead of something else, you’re experiencing the program you have installed that runs on idle and kicks in as soon as you get threatened by anything. Hard work, failure, overwhelm? The threat comes in many forms and it triggers your fail safe old story and contingency plan. To stop this using the IRS (Interface Response System), you must first identify that this pattern is going on and make a decision to disrupt it.

Why would you do that?

Because what you want most requires that you do. Your WHY must overpower your Why Not. It’s as simple as stalling and distancing yourself from the triggered idea of straying off path. You still can but first you’re gonna check in with your predetermined valuable desires goal. If it’s sexy enough, you can easily see that straying from the path doesn’t make sense. 🤔 Then look at the event that triggered the idea. A let down or failure perhaps? Question whether that let down or challenge is to be expected when contending for your dreams.

Put a big check in the yes box and get back to work. No more READY, SET, QUIT!!! Make Sense?
