I find it fascinating to observe the human desire to purposefully keep up with the news. To be in the know of current events. Especially the ones that trigger feelings of anger and injustice. 

Looking at it rationally, one can easily see the high potential for toxicity in watching the news and how its consistent consumption can have a negative impact on one's ability to respond to stress and make rational decisions. 

As an example, I see that the people that keep up with current events are more closed in their opinions. Meaning, not open to looking at things from other vantage points. This lack of openness can shut down potential growth and rationale. Imagine if the greatest minds of our time like Elon Musk were closed to looking at things wholeographically? Things like Space X and his Tesla would not exist?

You see, the only place that growth and expansion exist is in the unknown. Therefore, the constant consumption of toxic things like the news, not only places a negative twist on our reality as humans. Potentially worse is the fact that it sells us on one side of things and therefore we are close to potential like considering alternate scenarios that might allow us to grow. 

Think about it. Does the news you watch give you both sides when it’s reported? Like, a man was arrested today for murdering three small children in New York. But from what we’ve learned, he was a nice man and didn’t mean it. See the very nature of the news and current events is to make a claim that what’s reported represents just that. Here’s what is going on today, therefore, here is the current reality we live in. It’s all that exists and you’re to go about your day now knowing this definitive reality.

If there was an even balance of positive and negative, and a consideration of both sides, humans would have the free will to see that both exist and gain access to rational thinking that there are two sides to the coin.

Here’s my desired news headline:

BREAKING NEWS: Humans across the world have woken up to see that they control their reality and have the ability to interrogate the news and question everything. Even themselves.
