Are You a mindful person?

Mindfulness

Nov 29, 2022

Are You a mindful person? What does that mean to you? Does it translate more towards the idea of having a mind full of stuff? Ideas, thoughts, and interpretations of feelings? Or is it more about the act of being aware and conscious of all things? The good and the bad. The positive and the negative. The kind and the unkind.

What’s interesting about the act of mindfulness is that it is ALWAYS NOW. The practice of what we can call the CONSCIOUS EXPERIENCE is always now. Think about it. Author of Waking Up, Sam Harris, says it is a simple state of clear, nonjudgmental, and undistracted attention to the contents of consciousness, whether pleasant or unpleasant.

My question is this. If the perception of this conscious experience is being perceived by a perceiver — You and I!! — and your brain and operating system have been programmed by others — MFTPS — is it possible that your experience of the conscious experience, may be skewed or leveraged to perceive what you’ve been taught to perceive? Hmmm... 🤔

So what to do about this possible misdirection of our attention and perception? I believe the solution is found through the emptying of the mind. Some practice meditation or use psychedelics. It’s about allowing yourself to mindlessly interface with the conscious experience and see it for the first time with no suggestion of what’s worth looking at or why. Naked perception. With all of your mind in the sense of its potential, yes. However, empty of past experiences and lessons taught to you by others that may have shared their opinions and labeled them as reality and fact. Mindfulness to me is just that. Allowing your mind’s full potential to interface with a happening for the first time with a curious and compassionate heart. You just might find out what’s really going on. Or at least get closer to it than your programmed mind would have.

Empty your mind today and see the world as it is. If using psychedelics, I recommend calling in sick to work first :)
